Music Makers: At the Keyboard 1 (WL) Beginning (1st - 3rd Grades)
13 week session Fall + 13 weeks Spring

The final step on the pathway to music literacy, this program is designed to teach children to play the songs they've been hearing, singing, and dancing to throughout the years of early-childhood. An extension of the work done in Music Makers: Around the World, this class follows a very sequential approach to building piano skills and understanding musical notation as set forth in the books, Music Makers: At the Keyboard. Emphasis begins with playing by ear and will gradually introduce note reading. We will continue to sing, dance and play other instruments (drums, Orff instruments such as xylophones, glockenspiels.)

Group piano lessons are FUN, engaging and encourage playing in front of others. Children want to continue! Five years of group piano lessons are available. Child must have a piano or keyboard with at least 61 keys to participate. Recommended for 1st - 3rd grades. KINDERGARTENERS ONLY ACCEPTED IF CONFIRMED AFTER SUMMER PIANO CAMP.

A Parent Orientation meeting with teacher is required before acceptance into Beginning Piano Class. This will be scheduled at your convenience as soon as possible.
THIS IS A SCHOOL-YEARLONG CLASS.

Mondays, 5:30 - 6:30 pm    Begins 9/9 - last class Fall 12/16; Spring Semester 1/13 - 4/21  FULL - ask for waiting list

Tuesdays, 4:30 - 5:30 pm  Begins 9/3 - last class Fall 12/10 (No class 11/26); Spring Semester  1/7 - 4/1.  FULL

Wednesdays, 4:30 - 5:30 pm  Begins 9/11 - last class Fall 12/18;  Spring Semester  1/8 - 4/2
2 SPOTS OPEN

Make-ups, if needed, will be added to the end of the semester. No class during Warsaw Schools' Fall (10/14-18), Thanksgiving (11/26-29) or Spring Break (4/7-11).

CLASS IS BILLED FOR THE YEAR; however, you may pay as you like as long as the semester's bill is paid in FULL by the next to last class. I accept cash, checks, credit cards in the studio, VENMO and PayPal. MusicLink Scholarships are also available -- see section of my website for further information. IF YOU DIVIDE OUT THE SCHOOL-YEAR TOTAL, IT COMES OUT TO APPROXIMATELY $21 PER WEEK FOR 1 HOUR CLASS TIME -- CHEAPER THAN PROBABLY ANYONE IN TOWN (for example, Music Encounters is $25 per 1/2 hour.)

WHY DO I REQUIRE A SCHOOL-YEAR COMMITMENT?
1) Because I teach in Groups, I cannot add students to Groups if someone drops out; whereas Private Teachers can add a new student whenever they want. So, to remain in business, I need the longer commitment.
2) Groups become friends and partners in learning and children dropping out mid-year hinders the learning process.
3) Groups need to stay the correct size -- too large isn't good; but too small is probably even worse! A Group Class of 2 or 3 really doesn't function like a Group any more.
4) We play ensembles which require all the students participating together -- like a "band" or a "sports team", each individual has an important part to play.
5) It is good for children to learn to make and stick to commitments. Piano is a commitment in my Studio.

Tuition:$215 per semester
Registration Fee:$60.00 Fall + $60.00 Winter/Spring
Total:$550 (year)
